Back By Semi-Popular Demand: Chelsea and Jae

In case you haven't heard, the first sign of the apocalypse has appeared in the south. The Morton household woke up this morning to 7 inches of snow. Well, we didn't exactly wake up to it...it was there when we went to sleep. Well, not when all of us went to sleep...just when Chelsea and I went to sleep. You see, my brilliant wife who is also very beautiful and talented and stuff had the beautifully talented brilliant idea to invite my mother over to stay with us last night so that she could play in the snow with Eden and Caroline in the morning. Of course, just like every other beautifully talented brilliant idea Chelsea has ever had, there was an ulterior motive...a beautifully talented brilliant ulterior motive...OK I'm done...
Long story short, at 10:30pm, Chelsea and I were sneaking out the front door in our boots and mittens and scarves and hats and other clothing to "borrow" the kids' snow saucers (sleds) and do "test runs" on the hill in front of the house...you know, just to make sure it was safe...safety first.
Needless to say we had a blast. It really was awesome just sledding and tackling each other and throwing snowballs and laughing for no apparent reason etc., etc. We realized that this was the first time in our entire relationship that we had had the chance to act like kids in the snow together. It was fun. For a little while we felt like we were back in high school with no worries or responsibilities. I think that's what makes our marriage work so well.
It took us a long time to figure out that the thing that was missing from our marriage was Chelsea and Jae. We were spending so much time as Mommy and Daddy that we lost Chelsea and Jae. Most of the time we even referred to each other as "Mommy or Daddy". Once we began taking time for the two of us, our marriage became...well, a marriage. Crazy.
